Dominic Solanke Joins Spurs in £65M Move

Dominic Solanke has reached an agreement to transfer from Bournemouth to Tottenham Hotspur in a deal worth up to £65 million. Spurs will pay an initial £55 million with an additional £10 million in potential add-ons for the 26-year-old, who has one cap for England. This deal could set a record for Bournemouth, surpassing the £40 million they received from Manchester City for defender Nathan Ake in 2020.

Bournemouth owner Bill Foley confirmed the release clause for Solanke, estimated at around £65 million, in a recent BBC Sport interview. Dominic Solanke, who joined Bournemouth from Liverpool for £19 million in 2019, enjoyed a standout season in 2023-24, scoring 21 goals in 42 appearances. Liverpool is understood to have a 20% sell-on clause for any profit from Solanke’s sale.

Spurs manager Ange Postecoglou, looking to bolster his attack following Harry Kane’s departure to Bayern Munich, has identified strengthening the forward line as a priority. Postecoglou emphasized the difficulty of replacing a player of Kane’s caliber but stressed the need for suitable reinforcements for the upcoming season. He noted, “You can’t replace a generational player, and there’s a reason they stand apart. We’re working hard to bring in the right players for another challenging season.”

Bournemouth’s boss Andoni Iraola acknowledged that Solanke’s potential departure would be significant, but the club has “two or three candidates lined up” as potential replacements. Foley had previously expressed hope that Solanke would remain but acknowledged the necessity of preparing for his possible exit.
