Evanilson Move Highlights Bournemouth’s Ambition

Evanilson will join Bournemouth from Porto in a club-record £40.2 million deal. The deal involves an immediate payment of £31.7 million, with an additional £8.5 million potentially due based on performance-related clauses. This transfer follows a situation where Bournemouth owner Bill Foley had planned contingencies in case another club activated Dominic Solanke’s release clause. Solanke, who recently joined Tottenham in a deal worth up to £65 million had been a key player for Bournemouth. Evanilson, who joined Porto in 2020, made a significant impact last season by scoring 17 goals across both the Portuguese league and the Champions League.

He also earned his first two international caps with Brazil this year during the Copa America. The signing of Evanilson surpasses Bournemouth’s previous record, set by Jefferson Lerma’s £25 million transfer from Levante in 2018.
