Harry Kane Receives Warm Welcome at Spurs
Harry Kane, the Bayern Munich striker received a warm welcome at his former club Tottenham, despite Bayern’s 3-2 win in a pre-season friendly. Kane, who joined Bayern last summer for £86.4m plus add-ons, came on as a late substitute and received applause both when he entered the pitch and during a solo lap of honor. Although Harry Kane had just returned to training after helping England reach the Euro 2024 final, he appreciated the reception from Spurs fans and the chance to say goodbye properly.
Tottenham introduced new signings Dominic Solanke, Archie Gray and Lucas Bergvall to fans before the match. During the game, Dejan Kulusevski initially put Spurs ahead but Bayern responded with goals from Dayot Upamecano, Serge Gnabry and Thomas Muller, taking a 3-1 lead. Kulusevski scored again but Bayern held on for the win.
Elsewhere, Bournemouth clinched a 3-2 victory against Girona with Daniel Jebbison scoring the decisive goal. Aston Villa ended their pre-season with a 2-0 loss to Borussia Dortmund where Emiliano Martinez and Ezri Konsa returned from international duty. Borussia Dortmund’s Emre Can and Julian Brandt scored the goals. West Ham, featuring new signing Lucas Paqueta, played Celta Vigo to a 2-2 draw and won on penalties.
Newcastle United secured a 1-0 win against Brest thanks to Harvey Barnes’ goal. Everton drew 1-1 with Roma with Dominic Calvert-Lewin scoring the equalizer. Wolves lost 1-0 to Rayo Vallecano and Leicester City fell 3-0 to Lens. Brighton, under new manager Fabian Hurzeler, maintained their perfect pre-season record with a 4-0 win over Villarreal.
Joao Pedro, Danny Welbeck and Yankuba Minteh scored and Welbeck added a late penalty. Fulham’s Emile Smith Rowe scored in a 2-0 victory against Hoffenheim as they prepare for their Premier League opener against Manchester United.
