Jose Mourinho: A Coach Living in Luxury at Fenerbahce
Jose Mourinho has long been a prominent figure in European football and although he now finds himself at Fenerbahce in Turkey, he continues to command attention. The 61-year-old Portuguese coach, who joined the club in June is preparing to host his former team, Manchester United in the Europa League this week. Since his arrival, Mourinho has been staying at the luxurious Four Seasons Bosphorus hotel where the cheapest room costs £1,000 per night.
Despite the seemingly extravagant price, this expense represents only a small fraction of his annual salary of £10 million. Over his 142 days at the hotel, Mourinho’s bill has reportedly reached £142,000 which is just 1.42% of his yearly earnings. Mourinho enjoys breathtaking views from his suite which overlooks the Bosphorus Strait and the Asian side of Istanbul.
The hotel boasts five restaurants, a state-of-the-art fitness center, two swimming pools and a spa, providing a plethora of amenities for the coach. According to hotel staff, Mourinho often orders the same dinner each night—chicken soup, margherita pizza, ice cream, and sparkling water—and has a penchant for scrambled eggs. Fenerbahce offered to rent a top house in Istanbul for Mourinho.
However, he opted to stay in a hotel, believing it would enhance his focus and productivity. While he enjoys the hotel’s luxurious offerings, his primary goal remains on-field success. With a crucial match against Manchester United approaching, Jose Mourinho may celebrate a potential victory with a meal at one of the hotel’s restaurants or a relaxing swim in the pool.
