Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall Joins Chelsea on Six-Year Deal

Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall, 25-year-old midfielder, signed with Chelsea from Leicester City for £30m on a six-year contract until 2030. The club finalized the transfer before the Premier League’s profit and sustainability rules (PSR) deadline, helping Leicester comply with financial guidelines. “It is amazing to be sitting here as a Chelsea player,” said Dewsbury-Hall. “This is a club people grow up watching and hoping to one day play for, so it is a privilege to be here.”

Dewsbury-Hall reunites with manager Enzo Maresca, who joined Chelsea after winning the Championship title with Leicester last season. Leicester named him player and players’ player of the season after he scored 12 goals and provided 12 assists in 44 league games. Chelsea made Dewsbury-Hall their fourth summer signing, joining defender Tosin Adarabioyo from Fulham, midfielder Omari Kellyman from Aston Villa, and teenage forward Marc Guiu from Barcelona.

Leicester’s PSR concerns eased with Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall’s transfer, completed before the 2023-24 accounts deadline. Along with the £10m compensation for Maresca’s move to Chelsea, Leicester banked £40m, boosting their confidence in avoiding PSR breaches. The club faces a first charge from the Premier League for alleged breaches in the previous three top-flight seasons, referred to an independent commission.

Despite frustrations, Leicester remains committed to cooperating in the process, which benefited Nottingham Forest with a reduced penalty last season.
