Kylian Mbappe is set to miss some time due to a thigh injury. The French international, who joined Real Madrid in the summer after his contract with Paris Saint-Germain expired, sustained the injury during Real’s 3-2 victory over Deportivo Alaves on Tuesday. Mbappe scored during the match but requested to come off in the 80th minute, citing discomfort in his leg.
After the game, Real Madrid coach Carlo Ancelotti downplayed the issue, saying, “He’s fine – just a bit overloaded. He asked for the change to avoid further problems.” However, the club provided a medical update on Wednesday confirming that tests diagnosed Mbappe with an injury to the biceps femoris muscle in his left leg. Real Madrid stated that they will closely monitor his recovery.
Before the injury, Kylian Mbappe had been in excellent form, scoring six goals in seven appearances for the Spanish giants. His absence could significantly impact Real Madrid as they prepare for a challenging schedule. The club faces a crucial league clash against Atletico Madrid on Sunday followed by a Champions League fixture against Lille and a La Liga match against Villarreal ahead of the October international break.
While the extent of Mbappe’s injury remains unspecified, the club hopes for a swift recovery as key games approach on both domestic and European fronts. Mbappe’s fitness will be crucial as Real Madrid aims to maintain momentum in La Liga and their Champions League campaign. Until then, Ancelotti will need to rely on other attacking options to fill the gap left by the prolific forward.
