Kylian Mbappé made an immediate impact on his Real Madrid debut, scoring as they claimed a record sixth UEFA Super Cup with a 2-0 win over Atalanta in Warsaw. The 25-year-old French forward had a quiet first half as Real struggled against Gian Piero Gasperini’s well-organized side. Marten de Roon’s deflected shot hit the crossbar for Atalanta while Rodrygo came closest for Real Madrid, also hitting the bar before the break.

After halftime, Carlo Ancelotti adjusted Real Madrid’s tactics, transforming their performance. Federico Valverde tapped in a pass from Vinicius Jr. to open the scoring. As Atalanta began to tire, Mbappé doubled the lead by racing onto a pass from Jude Bellingham and firing into the top corner. Bellingham, who had played in a deeper role during the first half, became more influential after the tactical shift, creating several chances.

Ancelotti’s side, last season’s Champions League winners, grew increasingly comfortable as the match progressed, with Kylian Mbappé leaving the pitch late on. The victory secured Real Madrid’s record-breaking sixth UEFA Super Cup and gave Ancelotti his 14th trophy with the club across two spells. The win highlighted Real Madrid’s depth and potential, even without injured players like Eduardo Camavinga and David Alaba.

Many of their stars had also trained together only briefly before the match. This performance sends a strong message to their domestic and European rivals as Real Madrid continues to adapt and refine its tactics under Ancelotti’s leadership.
