Man Utd (Manchester United) has received a second bid from Fulham, reportedly worth £20 million for midfielder Scott McTominay. Although United expects to reject this offer, McTominay’s future remains uncertain following West Ham’s unsuccessful attempt to sign him last summer. During the club’s pre-season tour of the United States, United manager Erik ten Hag expressed his satisfaction with McTominay’s presence in the squad but did not confirm that the 27-year-old Scotland international would stay at the club.
United seeks to raise funds for new signings, a situation intensified by injuries to defender Leny Yoro, who will miss three months and striker Rasmus Hojlund. McTominay, now entering the prime of his career, aspires to be a regular starter. Last season, he made 32 Premier League appearances for United, including 14 as a substitute and started in the FA Cup final victory over Manchester City at Wembley.
Recently, he played in the number 10 role during United’s 3-2 pre-season win over Real Betis in San Diego. Despite the competition for places including Bruno Fernandes returning from Euro 2024, Mason Mount aiming to stay fit, and Casemiro remaining at the club despite rumors of a move to the Saudi Pro-League, a transfer for McTominay remains possible.
Ten Hag praised McTominay, highlighting his importance and impact on the team’s performances. “I am so pleased with the performance of Scott and so pleased to have him in my squad,” said Ten Hag. “Scott has a huge impact on team performances with his spirit, and playing in the advanced position he is so important.” McTominay’s future at Man Utd remains in balance as the club navigates its needs and the midfielder’s ambitions for regular first-team football.
