Marc Guehi is at the center of Newcastle United’s third bid, reportedly around £60 million to acquire him from Crystal Palace. The offer includes £55 million upfront and a potential £5 million in add-ons. Despite this bid, Crystal Palace values Guehi, who shone at Euro 2024, at nearly £70 million. Newcastle’s previous bid was just under £50 million. At 24, Guehi has nearly two years remaining on his contract with Palace. The club wants to avoid losing one of their top assets on a free transfer once his contract expires.
Since joining Palace from Chelsea in 2021, Marc Guehi has made 111 appearances and attracted interest from several top clubs. Additionally, Crystal Palace is exploring the possibility of bringing back former star Wilfried Zaha on loan. Zaha left for Galatasaray at the end of the 2022-23 season to pursue Champions League football where he scored 10 goals in 42 appearances last season.
He previously scored 90 goals in 458 appearances over two spells with Palace. With Michael Olise moving to Bayern Munich in July, Palace seeks more attacking options and has already signed forwards Daichi Kamada and Ismaila Sarr, along with defender Chadi Riad. Palace recently rejected Fulham’s £20 million offer for centre-back Joachim Andersen, valuing the 28-year-old Denmark international at closer to £40 million.
Andersen had previously spent the 2020-21 season on loan at Fulham before joining Palace permanently. Fulham also saw a bid for Aston Villa’s Brazilian defender Diego Carlos rejected as they aim to strengthen their defense for the new season.
