Marco Reus Joins LA Galaxy, Aims to Win MLS Title

Marco Reus, former Borussia Dortmund forward has joined Major League Soccer’s LA Galaxy, declaring his ambition to “bring the championship back” to the club. The 35-year-old Reus spent 12 years at Dortmund before moving to LA Galaxy at the end of the previous season. Reus’s signing adds to the Galaxy’s rich history, following the legacies of notable players such as David Beckham, Steven Gerrard and Zlatan Ibrahimovic.

Despite being the most successful team in MLS history, LA Galaxy have not won the title since 2014 when Robbie Keane was part of the squad. Their dominance has been challenged by local rivals LAFC, who claimed the MLS Cup in 2022 and now boast French World Cup winners Hugo Lloris and Olivier Giroud. As the MLS season resumes later this month, LA Galaxy currently lead the Western Conference.

However, LAFC trails closely, just two points behind with two games in hand. Reus is looking forward to competitive matchups, including a potential duel with Giroud and expresses enthusiasm for the new experience at Galaxy. He highlights the team’s decade-long title drought as motivation, believing this year offers a strong chance for them to reclaim the championship.

Marco Reus also spoke about his former Dortmund teammate, Jude Bellingham, who now plays for Real Madrid. Bellingham had an impressive debut season, scoring 23 goals and providing 13 assists. Reus commended Bellingham’s dedication and physicality, noting his ability to handle the demands of top-level football. He remains confident that Bellingham, who is a Ballon d’Or contender will continue to excel in his career.
