Marseille are in advanced negotiations to sign Tottenham and Denmark midfielder Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg. The 28-year-old is set to leave north London and is available for approximately £17 million. Both clubs are working out the payment terms, but they anticipate finalizing the deal soon. Hojbjerg, who joined Tottenham in 2020 for £15 million from Southampton during Jose Mourinho’s tenure, made 39 appearances last season.
However, he started only 10 of those matches as manager Ange Postecoglou preferred Yves Bissouma and Pape Matar Sarr in central midfield. With Hojbjerg entering the final year of his contract, he will be available for free in 2025 unless he agrees to new terms with Spurs. Tottenham have bolstered their midfield this summer with the additions of Archie Gray from Leeds and Lucas Bergvall from Swedish club Djurgårdens.
Meanwhile, Marseille have been actively strengthening their squad since hiring former Brighton manager Roberto de Zerbi. The French club recently signed forward Mason Greenwood from Manchester United and midfielder Ismael Kone from Watford. Additionally, Marseille is reportedly interested in Arsenal striker Eddie Nketiah.
The potential transfer of Hojbjerg reflects Marseille’s ongoing efforts to enhance their team as they prepare for the upcoming season. With significant changes happening at both clubs, the deal for Hojbjerg could be a key move in Marseille’s recruitment strategy.
