Michael Olise has signed with Bayern Munich from Crystal Palace for approximately 60 million euros (£50m). The 22-year-old, who represented France Under-21s despite being born in England, arrives at Bayern after making 90 appearances for Palace across three seasons. Olise, who initially joined Palace from Reading for £8m in 2021, has committed to a five-year contract. Despite interest from Chelsea and Newcastle United earlier in the summer, Olise opted for Bayern, where he will be under the management of Vincent Kompany.

Expressing his enthusiasm, Olise sees this move as a significant challenge and opportunity to prove himself at the highest level. During his time at Palace, Michael Olise impressed with 10 goals in 19 Premier League outings, contributing to the team’s 10th-place finish last season. His performances also earned him a call-up to the French squad for the upcoming Olympics in Paris. Crystal Palace chairman Steve Parish acknowledged Olise’s development at the club and respected his decision to pursue greater challenges in world football.

In addition to Olise’s signing, Bayern Munich is finalizing a deal for Joao Palhinha from Fulham, valued at £42m plus £4m in add-ons. The 28-year-old Portuguese midfielder, whose transfer to Bayern fell through last year, is poised to join permanently. Moreover, England defender Eric Dier has completed his move to Bayern after a loan spell from Tottenham Hotspur since January. Bayern Munich, who saw their 11-year Bundesliga reign end last season, are reinforcing their squad to reclaim the domestic title under new management.
