Mohamed Al Fayed held the position of chairman at Fulham for 16 years.

Mohamed Al Fayed’s accusers’ lawyers have reported receiving “several inquiries” related to Fulham Football Club during his 16 years of ownership. This follows accusations from over 20 former female employees who alleged sexual assault or rape against Al Fayed in a recent BBC documentary. The former chairman of Fulham, who passed away last year at age 94 held his position from 1997 to 2013.

A spokesperson for the barristers’ group, Justice for Harrods Survivors revealed that additional individuals have come forward with allegations. At a press conference last week, the group described Al Fayed as a “monster” who intimidated his victims into silence. In response, Fulham FC stated they are actively investigating whether any current or former club members were impacted by the reports regarding Al Fayed.

The Football Association acknowledged the situation and indicated they would maintain communication with Fulham FC to monitor developments. Gaute Haugenes, who managed Fulham’s women’s team from 2001 to 2003, shared insights with BBC Sport revealing that staff implemented extra precautions to protect female players from Al Fayed. Haugenes noted that staff had become aware of Al Fayed’s preference for “young, blonde girls.”

During a press conference on Thursday, ahead of Fulham’s match against Nottingham Forest, men’s manager Marco Silva addressed the troubling headlines surrounding Mohamed Al Fayed. Although Silva’s comments came before news of the inquiries to barristers, he expressed sadness over the situation, stating, “To hear that is really sad for us, and for myself, as a manager, of course I have empathy for that situation.”

The unfolding allegations have raised serious concerns about the culture at Fulham during Al Fayed’s tenure.
