Nacho has ended his illustrious career at Real Madrid, leaving the club after securing 26 trophies including an impressive six European Cups. Nacho, who is 34 years old, joined Madrid’s youth academy at the age of 10 and made 364 appearances for the club since his senior debut in 2012. His final match was the unforgettable 2-0 Champions League final victory over Borussia Dortmund earlier this month, where he became one of just five players in the club’s history to achieve six European Cup triumphs.
Currently, Nacho is with the Spain squad at Euro 2024 and is set to start a new chapter with Saudi Arabian club Al-Qadsiah. Captain Nacho’s stated, “After months of reflection, indecision, and doubts, I’ve decided that I need to pursue one last and unique experience with my family and now is the perfect time.” He has 26 international caps to his name. During his time at Madrid, Nacho won four La Liga titles, two Spanish Cups, five Club World Cups, four European Super Cups, and five Spanish Super Cups.
His achievements extend beyond Europe, reflecting his prowess across various competitions. Real Madrid president Florentino Perez highlighted that since joining their youth academy as a youngster, Nacho has always exemplified dedication and leadership. Perez added that Nacho has earned the affection, recognition, and admiration of everyone at the club.
