Pascal Gross has completed his transfer from Brighton to Borussia Dortmund for an initial fee of £8 million with the potential for the deal to rise to £10 million with add-ons. Gross, a Germany international, spent the past seven years at Brighton after joining from Ingolstadt in 2017. At 33, Gross holds the record as Brighton’s all-time top scorer in the Premier League with 30 goals and accumulated 32 goals and 52 assists across all competitions in 261 appearances for the Seagulls.

Brighton had hoped to keep Gross but understood his desire to return to his boyhood club, Dortmund. Brighton’s manager, Fabian Hurzeler expressed regret over losing Gross but acknowledged his decision to move to one of Germany’s top clubs. Hurzeler admitted he felt “disappointed” not to have the chance to work with Gross personally. Gross made a significant impact at Brighton as the club’s first signing after their promotion to the Premier League in 2017.

He scored the club’s first top-flight goal in 34 years during a victory over West Bromwich Albion. His standout performances earned him his first call-up to the Germany national team at age 32 and he participated in Euro 2024 where Spain eliminated Germany in the quarter-finals. Pascal Gross’s move to Dortmund ends a notable chapter at Brighton where he played a key role in the club’s Premier League journey and contributed significantly to their success on the field.
