Pau Victor Scores Twice as Barcelona Defeats Real Madrid

Pau Victor scored twice as Barcelona defeated Real Madrid 2-1 in an El Clasico friendly held in the United States. The match at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey faced a weather-related delay after 12 minutes due to a heavy storm. After the storm delayed the game for over an hour, Barcelona took the lead just before half-time when 22-year-old Victor headed in a pass from Robert Lewandowski.

Victor added his second goal shortly after the break, extending Barcelona’s lead. Thibaut Courtois made a notable save from Lewandowski for Real Madrid and Nico Paz later scored a header, but Real Madrid couldn’t alter the outcome. Barcelona’s win in this first El Clasico of the season means Pau Victor has now scored three goals in two games during their US tour, having also netted in a 2-2 draw against Manchester City.

Real Madrid suffered their second loss in their US tour, following a 1-0 defeat to AC Milan. Despite the results, Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti remains unfazed. He emphasized that the tour primarily serves to improve player fitness rather than focus on results. Ancelotti pointed out that several key players including Jude Bellingham and Kylian Mbappe, missed the tour due to their involvement in the European Championship.

He stated, “We’re working on our preparations and the players are gradually coming back. The result is not so important. We’re not worried. It’s a pre-season game and we’re missing eight players.” Real Madrid will next face Chelsea on August 6 in North Carolina.
