Pedro Neto Secures Seven-Year Deal with Chelsea

Pedro Neto has finalized his move to Chelsea from Wolverhampton Wanderers for £54 million. The 24-year-old Portuguese forward has committed to a seven-year contract with Chelsea which extends until 2031. The club introduced Neto to supporters during half-time of a friendly match against Inter Milan at Stamford Bridge on Sunday.

Neto expressed his enthusiasm about joining Chelsea, stating, “I feel really grateful to have joined this club. I have worked really hard in my career to be here and I’m looking forward to getting on the pitch with this shirt.” This move follows Chelsea’s initial bids for Neto, which Wolves rejected. Consequently, the final agreement involves an upfront payment of £51.3 million plus an additional £2.6 million in performance-related add-ons.

Neto, who joined Wolves from Lazio in 2019, scored 14 goals in 135 appearances for the club. Moreover, this transfer marks a record sale for Wolves, exceeding the £47 million they received from Al-Hilal for Ruben Neves in 2023. Pedro Neto’s arrival brings Chelsea’s summer spending to around £185 million. Additionally, the club has also signed midfielders Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall, Renato Veiga and Omari Kellyman along with goalkeeper Filip Jorgensen.

Defenders Tosin Adarabioyo, Aaron Anselmino, Caleb Wiley, winger Estevao Willian and striker Marc Guiu have also joined the squad. Furthermore, Chelsea are actively negotiating to add Atletico Madrid forward Samu Omorodion and Genk goalkeeper Mike Penders to their squad. This ongoing investment underscores Chelsea’s commitment to strengthening their team ahead of the new season.
