Riccardo Calafiori Joins Arsenal for Pre-Season Tour

Riccardo Calafiori will undergo his medical with Arsenal as his transfer from Bologna nears completion. The 22-year-old Italy international will join the Gunners before their pre-season tour of the United States. Arsenal, currently in Los Angeles will face Bournemouth on Wednesday and Manchester United on Saturday, then travel to Philadelphia for a match against Liverpool on July 31.

Calafiori made a notable impact last season with Bologna by scoring two goals and providing five assists in 30 Serie A appearances. His performances helped Bologna secure a fifth-place finish and a spot in the upcoming Champions League. Additionally, Calafiori played for Italy at Euro 2024, starting all three group-stage matches before Italy fell to Switzerland in the Round of 16.

Calafiori began his career in Roma’s youth academy and then moved to Swiss club Basel in 2022. He transferred to Bologna for £3.3 million the following season, where he continued to develop and showcase his abilities. Arsenal’s decision to acquire Riccardo Calafiori aligns with their strategy to strengthen their squad ahead of the new season.
