UEFA Reduces Away Ticket Costs to Boost Fan Accessibility

UEFA has reduced the maximum amount clubs can charge for away tickets in its three major men’s club competitions for the upcoming season. Consequently, this change will make European matches more affordable for traveling fans. This season, UEFA has capped away ticket prices at 60 euros (£50.55) for Champions League games, 40 euros (£33.70) for Europa League matches and 20 euros (£16.85) for Conference League fixtures.

Additionally, next season UEFA will further reduce these caps to 50 euros (£42.12) for Champions League games and 35 euros (£29.48) for the Europa League. Importantly, these limits apply only to visiting fans not to those attending home games. UEFA first introduced ticket caps in the 2019-20 season, setting limits at 70 euros (£63.50) for the Champions League and 45 euros (£41) for the Europa League.

This action followed protests from fans over high away ticket prices which prompted UEFA to address the issue. UEFA President Aleksander Ceferin emphasized the organization’s commitment to improving the matchday experience for all supporters. He stated, “This marks another key step in reaffirming UEFA’s commitment to enhancing the matchday experience for all fans.

By introducing more fan-friendly policies, we continue our mission to keep football as an inclusive sport where supporters who travel across Europe to follow their teams are valued and recognised.” Furthermore, Ronan Evain from Football Supporters Europe (FSE) which consulted on the changes highlighted the importance of the revised caps.

He noted that the caps acknowledge the vital role away fans play in creating an exciting atmosphere for European club fixtures.
