Yves Bissouma, Tottenham midfielder, fell victim to a robbery of his luxury watch by two assailants on Sunday. The Mali international, aged 27, was with his wife outside a hotel in Cannes on the French Riviera when the incident occurred around 04:00 local time (03:00 BST). The assailants abruptly shattered the tranquility of their surroundings, initiating a harrowing encounter and marking a distressing turn of events. Reports suggest that as Yves Bissouma was returning to his hotel, two hooded individuals ambushed him and deployed tear gas, forcibly taking his watch valued at 300,000 euros (£255,000).
Confirming these details, his lawyer Bastien Caire refrained from providing further comments as investigations into the matter are ongoing. Tottenham released a statement acknowledging the incident, assuring that they are closely monitoring the situation and maintaining regular contact to ensure the well-being of Yves and his family. Bissouma, who made a high-profile move from Brighton to Spurs for £25m plus add-ons in the summer of 2022, has been a significant presence on the pitch.
Last season, he showcased his talent in 28 matches for the club, playing a pivotal role in their fifth-place finish in the Premier League. His contributions not only secured qualification for the Europa League but also highlighted his indispensable presence on the field.
