Hull City stunned high-flying Sheffield United with a 3-0 victory at Bramall Lane, boosting their Championship survival hopes. The Tigers took an early lead through Matt Crooks, who scored from 25 yards after a swift counter-attack in the 6th minute. Sheffield United mounted pressure in the second half but Hull City doubled their lead when Matty Jacob poked in Cody Drameh’s low cross.

Late in the game, Harrison Burrows accidentally scored an own goal from Joao Pedro’s cross, sealing Hull’s third consecutive away victory. Hull’s win lifted them to 18th place, two points clear of the relegation zone. Sheffield United, despite dominating possession, missed a chance to go top of the league. The Blades remain in second but now face pressure from leaders Leeds United and third-placed Burnley.

Sheffield United started brightly with a powerful shot from Ben Brereton Diaz but Hull struck first after a swift counter-attack. The hosts had several chances to equalize in the second half including a disallowed goal from Tyrese Campbell and a missed opportunity by Callum O’Hare. Hull’s second goal came after a mis-hit cross from Drameh which fell perfectly for Jacob to score from close range.

A frustrated Sheffield United struggled to break down Hull’s defense and in the 88th minute, Burrows’ own goal capped off a frustrating evening. Sheffield United’s manager Chris Wilder acknowledged the defeat, citing disjointed play and poor goals conceded. Hull City’s Ruben Selles praised his team’s performance and expressed hope that they could build on this victory as they continue their fight for survival.
