Jack Grealish Reflects on Emotions After Euro 2024 Exclusion

Jack Grealish expressed his disappointment at being excluded from England’s Euro 2024 squad. He stated that he “can’t speak highly enough” of interim manager Lee Carsley. The Manchester City playmaker felt “devastated” after Gareth Southgate left him out of the 26-man roster and this disappointment deepened as England progressed to the final where they lost to Spain.

Grealish acknowledged that he didn’t have the best club season but believed his experience warranted selection. “I think I should have gone,” he stated. Since Carsley took over, Grealish has started in both matches, scoring against the Republic of Ireland in a 2-0 win. He praised Carsley for trusting him and maintaining open communication, noting that such support boosts his confidence.

Looking ahead, Grealish aims to be in the starting lineup when England hosts Greece and faces Finland. Meanwhile, Tottenham striker Dominic Solanke celebrated his return to the England squad after a seven-year absence, having last played in 2017. He remarked that returning to this point means a lot to him and that he has worked hard to achieve this moment.

Solanke joined Spurs for up to £65 million after scoring 19 goals for Bournemouth. This season, he has netted three times in eight appearances. With Harry Kane potentially unavailable for the Greece match, Solanke hopes to seize the opportunity to start. Jack Grealish has recently experienced a mix of emotions.

Missing out on Euro 2024 marked “the most difficult period of my life,” but the birth of his daughter brought him immense joy. He described this experience as “the best moment of my life,” emphasizing the unique journey that life and football offer.
