Jacksonville Jaguars secured a much-needed 32-16 victory over the New England Patriots in London, easing pressure on coach Doug Pederson. The Jaguars entered the game with a disappointing 1-5 record after a heavy defeat at Tottenham while the Patriots also struggled at 1-5. A record crowd of 86,651 at Wembley watched as the Patriots jumped to a quick 10-0 lead.

However, quarterback Trevor Lawrence spearheaded a comeback, throwing touchdowns to Brian Thomas Jr. and Tank Bigsby. Just before halftime, Parker Washington electrified the crowd with a stunning 96-yard punt return followed by a successful two-point conversion giving the Jacksonville Jaguars a 22-10 lead. The Patriots are undergoing a significant rebuild following the departure of legendary coach Bill Belichick.

They managed to score their second touchdown in the fourth quarter. Bigsby added another touchdown late in the game, solidifying the Jaguars’ win. “We needed to know what winning felt like again,” Pederson said, emphasizing the importance of the victory. Lawrence considered a generational talent since being the top draft pick in 2021, showcased his skills throughout the match.

This included a 24-yard pass to Christian Kirk and a 58-yard reception to Thomas Jr. Despite an encouraging start with a touchdown from rookie quarterback Drake Maye, the Patriots faltered after their initial drives. They struggled offensively, managing only 38 rushing yards compared to Jacksonville’s 171 and their defense failed to record a single sack.

As the Patriots transition to a new era under coach Jerod Mayo, the team faces a challenging season ahead marking a significant departure from their past dominance.
