Jared Goff led the Detroit Lions to a commanding 42-29 victory, handing the Seattle Seahawks their first loss of the season. Goff completed an impressive 18 consecutive passes, marking the highest number in NFL history without an incompletion and threw two touchdown passes. He even added his first career receiving touchdown to his impressive performance.

After the game, Goff expressed satisfaction with his performance, noting, “It’s good when the ball doesn’t hit the ground.” Both teams now stand at 3-1 for the season. Seahawks quarterback Geno Smith had a stellar game as well, racking up 395 passing yards and completing 38 of 56 attempts, both of which are career highs. However, he also threw one touchdown pass and one interception.

The Lions playing at home in Ford Field took a commanding lead with a halftime score of 21-7, thanks to two touchdowns from Jahmyr Gibbs and another from David Montgomery. The Seahawks mounted a comeback, closing the gap but Goff responded by connecting with Jameson Williams for a 70-yard touchdown, pushing the score to 35-20 as the final quarter approached.

Kenneth Walker III scored a 21-yard touchdown run early in the fourth quarter but Goff quickly found Amon-Ra St. Brown in the end zone to seal the Lions’ victory. Earlier in the game, St. Brown had executed a trick play, passing to Jared Goff for his own touchdown. The Lions now sit second in the NFC North, trailing the undefeated Minnesota Vikings while the Seahawks remain atop the NFC West.

The Vikings and Super Bowl champions Kansas City Chiefs are the only teams still holding a perfect 4-0 record. In another game on Monday, the Tennessee Titans secured their first win of the season by defeating the Miami Dolphins 31-12.
