Kansas City Chiefs Secure 14th Straight One-Score Victory
Kansas City Chiefs defending Super Bowl champions sealed their playoff spot with a thrilling 19-17 victory over the Las Vegas Raiders. Trailing by two points with just 15 seconds left, the Raiders were poised to attempt a game-winning field goal when disaster struck. A miscommunication on the snap with center Jackson Powers-Johnson snapping the ball early, resulted in a fumble recovered by the Chiefs securing their dramatic win.
This marks the Chiefs’ 14th consecutive victory in one-possession games a record streak in NFL history. Quarterback Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs had initially been in control, leading 16-3 late into the third quarter of the annual ‘Black Friday’ game at Arrowhead Stadium. Despite a strong showing from the Raiders with Aidan O’Connell returning at quarterback after a thumb injury, they failed to capitalize on their opportunity.
Kansas City’s defense along with their efficient offense, stood strong when it mattered most and the Raiders’ last-minute mishap ensured a Chiefs victory. The win improves Kansas City to an impressive 11-1 record, putting them in a prime position to chase a third consecutive Super Bowl title. In contrast, the Raiders’ struggles continue as they fall to 2-10 on the season with playoff hopes effectively dashed. The Chiefs with Mahomes leading the charge, remain one of the NFL’s top contenders as the season heads toward the postseason.
