Khvicha Kvaratskhelia has joined Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) from Napoli on a contract running until June 2029. The 23-year-old winger, nicknamed “Kvaradona” by Napoli fans in honor of Diego Maradona, requested to leave the Serie A leaders after failing to agree on a contract extension. Reports suggest PSG paid €70 million (£59 million) plus add-ons for the transfer, though the exact fee remains undisclosed.

Kvaratskhelia expressed excitement about the move, stating, “It’s a dream to be here. I feel immense pride in joining this great club and am looking forward to wearing my new colors.” He becomes PSG’s first signing of the January transfer window and the first Georgian player in the club’s history. Renowned for his creativity and work ethic, Kvaratskhelia made a significant impact at Napoli since joining from Dinamo Batumi in 2022 for £9 million.

During his time in Italy, he contributed 54 combined goals and assists in 107 appearances and played a key role in Napoli’s Serie A-winning campaign. Internationally, he helped Georgia reach the last 16 of Euro 2024. PSG described Khvicha Kvaratskhelia as “one of the most exciting players in world football” and praised his talent and team-oriented mentality. His arrival strengthens the Ligue 1 leaders, who are currently seven points clear of Marseille.

PSG will face Lens in a league match on Saturday followed by a high-profile Champions League clash against Manchester City on Wednesday. This signing underlines PSG’s ambition to bolster their squad with dynamic, young talent as they aim for domestic and European success in the 2023-24 season.
