Jude Bellingham and Kylian Mbappe scored to help Real Madrid close the gap to La Liga leaders Barcelona with a 2-0 victory over Getafe. Bellingham put Real Madrid ahead with a penalty in the 30th minute after Allan Nyom fouled Antonio Rudiger during a corner routine. Just eight minutes later, Bellingham turned provider threading a ball through for Mbappe, who took a touch and calmly finished into the bottom corner.
Getafe’s best chance came when Christantus Uche evaded Rudiger and struck a powerful shot against the post with Real goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois beaten. Another substitute, John Patrick also came close, hitting the crossbar and post with a powerful effort as Getafe searched for a way back into the match.
Despite the pressure, Real Madrid could have extended their lead. Brahim Diaz controlled the ball with his chest and lobbed Getafe goalkeeper David Soria but the ball went over the bar. Fede Valverde also saw his low shot saved by Soria, pushing it past the post. Mbappe had a chance to add a second when he was sent clear dribbling around Soria but the tight angle made his shot difficult and he failed to score.
Real Madrid’s win leaves them just a point behind Barcelona at the top of La Liga with Jude Bellingham continuing his impressive form and Mbappe adding another goal to his tally for the season.
