Kylian Mbappe Debuts in La Liga, Madrid Held by Mallorca

Kylian Mbappe made his much-anticipated La Liga debut for defending champions Real Madrid, but they settled for a 1-1 draw against Mallorca on the opening day. The France captain, who recently joined Madrid from Paris Saint-Germain, had already scored on his debut in the 2-0 UEFA Super Cup win over Atalanta. However, he couldn’t find the net in his first domestic league appearance.

Rodrygo opened the scoring for Real Madrid with a well-executed goal, curling the ball into the net after Vinicius Jr. cleverly backheeled it to him. Despite creating several opportunities, Mbappe failed to score. He nearly hit the target with one shot that just missed and later forced Mallorca’s goalkeeper Dominik Greif into a crucial save. Vedat Muriqi equalized for Mallorca, heading in a cross from Dani Rodriguez.

The game took a turn for the worse for Madrid when defender Ferland Mendy received a red card in injury time for a reckless challenge on Muriqi. This match marked an important milestone for Kylian Mbappe, as he played his first league game outside France, having started his career with Monaco before becoming PSG’s all-time top scorer and winning six Ligue 1 Golden Boots.

Despite the draw, Mbappe showcased his talent, leaving fans eager to see how he adapts to Spanish football.
