Kylian Mbappe Scores Twice as Real Madrid Beats Betis 2-0

Kylian Mbappe scored his first two La Liga goals for Real Madrid in their 2-0 victory over Real Betis. The French forward opened the scoring by finishing a backheel pass from Federico Valverde and later converted a penalty after being fouled by Betis goalkeeper Rui Silva. Mbappe had previously gone goalless in his last three La Liga appearances but had scored during his debut for Madrid in the UEFA Super Cup against Atalanta.

The 25-year-old, who joined Real Madrid from Paris Saint-Germain this summer, is PSG’s all-time top scorer with 256 goals. Mbappe scored his first La Liga goal on his 25th attempt of the season. His penalty marked his 26th shot, the most of any player in Europe’s top five leagues. Real Betis had opportunities to score with Abde Ezzalzouli heading wide and Barcelona loanee Vitor Roque forcing a save from his first touch.

However, Real Madrid also created numerous chances. Kylian Mbappe had seven shots before scoring and Eder Militao and Valverde both tested the Betis goalkeeper. Vinicius Jr. also hit the post with a deflected effort. With this win, Real Madrid remains unbeaten after four league games but trails Barcelona by four points. Real Betis on the other hand has struggled collecting only one point from their first three matches.
