Osasuna shocked Barcelona, handing them their first La Liga defeat of the season as Ante Budimir scored twice. The Croatian striker opened the scoring after 18 minutes, heading in a cross from Bryan Zaragoza as he slipped behind the Barcelona defense. Zaragoza then doubled Osasuna lead, breaking through on goal and calmly slotting the ball past goalkeeper Inaki Pena.
Barcelona responded after the break when Pau Victor scored, capitalizing on a mistake by goalkeeper Sergio Herrera, who fumbled the ball into his own net. However, Budimir quickly restored Osasuna’s two-goal cushion by converting a penalty he earned after being brought down by Sergi Dominguez in the box. With just five minutes remaining, Abel Bretones extended the lead to 4-1, striking a powerful shot from the edge of the area into the bottom right corner.
Although Lamine Yamal pulled one back for Barcelona with a brilliant finish into the top corner, it was too late for the visitors to mount a comeback. The defeat means Barcelona, who had won their first seven league matches, missed the chance to match their best-ever start to a season. Real Madrid now has the opportunity to close the gap as they could move within a point of the leaders with a victory over Atletico Madrid on Sunday evening.
Looking ahead, Barcelona shifts its focus to the Champions League where they will host Young Boys on Tuesday. They aim to bounce back after suffering a defeat against Monaco in their opening match of the tournament.
