Robert Lewandowski netted a first-half hat-trick, leading Barcelona to a decisive win over Alaves and restoring their three-point lead at the top of La Liga. Real Madrid had temporarily leveled with Barcelona after their victory over Villarreal on Saturday but the Catalan side quickly regained control in this match. Lewandowski opened the scoring early, converting a curling cross from Raphinha with a nod.
He doubled the lead with a close-range finish benefiting from Raphinha’s creativity once more. The Polish striker completed his hat-trick by skillfully guiding a shot past Alaves goalkeeper Antonio Sivera after receiving a pass from Eric Garcia. With this performance, Lewandowski has now scored 12 goals in 11 games across all competitions for Barcelona, who are averaging over three goals per game in La Liga this season.
After the match, Lewandowski credited his teammates for their contributions, saying, “I had some good passes, and they made it easier for me to score. We played well from the first minute and wanted to attack and score goals. We were more in control in the second half.” Despite some sporadic threats from Alaves, the hosts had a goal disallowed just before half-time when Toni Martinez’s strike was ruled offside in the buildup.
Barcelona’s dominant performance solidified their position at the top of the table as they continue to impress with their attacking style under coach Hansi Flick. The team remains focused on improvement with Robert Lewandowski noting that they still aim to enhance their overall play, saying, “We have a very good group…but we have improved all the things we lacked.”
