Robin le Normand Suffers Traumatic Brain Injury in Madrid Derby

Atletico Madrid defender Robin le Normand sustained a traumatic brain injury following a collision during the Madrid derby on Sunday. The 27-year-old Spain international collided heads with Real Madrid’s Aurelien Tchouameni in stoppage time, resulting in a 1-1 draw at the Metropolitano Stadium. Le Normand received immediate medical attention on the field,and Atletico Madrid later confirmed that he underwent a series of tests and evaluations by specialists.

The medical assessment revealed that he had suffered a traumatic brain injury accompanied by a subdural hematoma which is bleeding caused by a ruptured blood vessel near the brain. In light of the injury, Atletico Madrid announced that Le Normand will adhere to the established protocols for recovery from such trauma before resuming training or match participation.

This careful approach underscores the club’s commitment to player safety and health. Le Normand a key player in the squad was instrumental in helping Spain secure victory in Euro 2024 where he started in the final against England in Berlin.
