After his loan return to Borussia Dortmund in January, Jadon Sancho featured in 21 matches for the club. Manchester United is seeking £40m for Sancho's transfer in the upcoming summer window.
Manchester United has set a £40m price tag on Jadon Sancho, the winger who fell out with manager Erik ten Hag and was subsequently exiled. Sancho spent the second half of the last season on loan at Borussia Dortmund. He played a crucial role in the team’s journey to the Champions League final. Despite playing a significant role in Dortmund’s journey to the final and against Real Madrid, Sancho’s future at Old Trafford remains uncertain. Sources indicate that Manchester United intends to sell him this summer, regardless of the manager.
This decision comes despite initial thoughts that Sancho’s fate would be tied to Ten Hag’s. Dortmund is interested in bringing Sancho back next season but they are seeking another loan deal. United, however, prefers a straight sale due to limited transfer funds caused by Financial Fair Play (FFP) restrictions, which have imposed constraints on their ability to invest significantly in new players. This strategic approach aligns with the club’s financial objectives and ensures compliance with FFP regulations.
Sancho, who joined United from Dortmund for £73m in July 2021 still has two years left on his contract. Despite his uncertain future at United, European clubs including Italy’s Juventus, have shown significant interest in acquiring him. This indicates that Sancho remains a highly sought-after talent in the transfer market.
