Marcus Rashford has hinted at leaving Manchester United, declaring he is “ready for a new challenge” when discussing his future. The 27-year-old forward, who joined United’s academy as a youngster and scored 138 goals in 426 appearances, did not feature in Sunday’s 2-1 derby victory over Manchester City. New head coach Ruben Amorim dismissed disciplinary concerns regarding the decision and emphasized his expectations for players’ conduct and performance on and off the pitch.

Rashford openly addressed his disappointment about missing the derby but remained pragmatic, saying, “It’s disheartening, but we won, so let’s move on.” He vowed to leave the club amicably when the time comes, stating, “No hard feelings, no negativity from me about Manchester United.” Rashford’s form has declined over the past 18 months, following a stellar 2022-23 season in which he scored 30 goals across all competitions.

Critics including former players have questioned his professionalism after he traveled to New York and attended an NBA game during the international break. Despite the criticism, Rashford maintains his focus and resilience, emphasizing his ability to overcome setbacks. He also expressed enthusiasm for a possible England return under new manager Thomas Tuchel after missing the recent European Championship. Sources close to Rashford reveal his mixed emotions about leaving.

He hopes to reclaim a starting spot and excel at United but recognizes Amorim’s preference for other players. Marcus Rashford has started considering other opportunities including interest from Paris Saint-Germain and Saudi Pro League teams. However, his high wages and personal preferences might complicate a January move. Although Rashford has the ability to change his current situation, his words suggest he wants a fresh start leaving uncertainty about where his next challenge will take him.
