Murillo Signs Long-Term Deal with Nottingham Forest

Murillo has committed his future to Nottingham Forest by signing a new four-and-a-half-year contract, extending his stay at the City Ground until the summer of 2029. The 22-year-old Brazilian joined Forest in August 2023 from Corinthians for a reported fee of £15 million on a five-year deal. Since arriving, Murillo has quickly become an integral part of Forest’s defence, earning the title of player of the season in his first year at the club.
Expressing his gratitude for the new deal, Murillo said, “I’m very thankful and very happy that there are four more years to come. I’m sure that we’ve got a big future in front of us.” His strong performances have been key to Forest’s solid season with the club currently sitting in third place in the Premier League, level on points with second-placed Arsenal and just six points behind leaders Liverpool.
Murillo’s impressive form has attracted attention from top European clubs with reports linking both Liverpool and Real Madrid with interest in the Brazilian. Despite the speculation, Forest has secured his future, keeping the defender at the club for the foreseeable future. In addition to his club success, Murillo earned his first call-up to the Brazil national team for the 2026 World Cup qualifiers in November 2023.
While he was named in the squad, Murillo remained an unused substitute in both of Brazil’s 2026 qualifiers against Venezuela and Uruguay. Despite the lack of playing time, his inclusion in the national team squad highlights his rising reputation on the international stage. As Forest continues to push for a top-four finish in the Premier League, Murillo’s long-term commitment to the club is a significant boost for their future aspirations.
