Netherlands defeated Bosnia-Herzegovina 5-1 in their Nations League match with Manchester United striker Joshua Zirkzee scoring his first goal for the team. The summer signing from Bologna, earning his third cap, marked his debut goal with a well-executed flicked header following a deflected shot by Xavi Simons. Bosnia-Herzegovina briefly equalized with a goal from Ermedin Demirovic, who converted a through ball from Denis Huseinbasic in Eindhoven.

However, Zirkzee quickly restored the Netherlands’ lead, setting up Tijjani Reijnders for a goal just before halftime. Liverpool’s Cody Gakpo then extended the lead to 3-1, sliding the ball into an empty net after Reijnders delivered a low drive across the six-yard box. Despite Edin Dzeko giving Bosnia-Herzegovina a glimmer of hope with his 66th international goal from Esmir Bajraktarevic’s cross, the Netherlands continued to assert their dominance.

Subsequently, Wout Weghorst, who came on as a substitute for Zirkzee, added the Netherlands’ fourth goal. Simons then sealed an emphatic 5-1 victory with a goal in injury time. This match underscored the Netherlands’ strong performance and attacking prowess. Zirkzee’s debut goal, combined with contributions from Simons, Reijnders and Gakpo highlighted the team’s readiness and capability in their Nations League campaign.

The Netherlands’ convincing win showcased their ability to dominate and respond effectively throughout the game.
