Neymar has downplayed concerns after suffering a fresh injury during his second appearance for Al-Hilal following a year-long absence. The 32-year-old Brazilian striker was substituted in the 86th minute of Al-Hilal’s 3-0 victory over Iranian team Esteghlal in the Asian Champions League on Monday. After the match, Neymar took to Instagram to explain the injury, saying it felt like a “cramp,” but one that was “very strong.” He assured fans that he would undergo tests and expressed hope that it wasn’t anything too serious.

“It’s normal for this to happen after a year. The doctors had already warned me, so I have to be careful and play more minutes,” he added. Neymar’s recent injury follows a lengthy absence due to a serious knee injury. In October 2023, he ruptured his anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) during a World Cup qualifier match between Brazil and Uruguay which kept him out for an extended period.

Since his recovery, Neymar has played just seven matches for Al-Hilal having joined the Saudi Arabian club from Paris Saint-Germain in August 2023. Despite the injury setback, Neymar remains optimistic about his recovery. The incident highlights the challenges of returning to full fitness after such a significant injury and Neymar’s caution in his return to play is a reflection of the medical advice he has received.

Fans will now wait to see the results of his tests, hoping for a speedy and full recovery.
