Paul Pogba to Leave Juventus After Contract Termination

Paul Pogba will leave Juventus on November 30 after agreeing to terminate his contract mutually. The 31-year-old midfielder received a four-year ban in February for a doping offence but the authorities reduced his suspension to 18 months in October, starting from his initial provisional ban in September 2023. Sources close to Pogba confirmed that he will resume training in January and become eligible to play again in March.

This decision allows Pogba to re-enter the transfer market in January where he can join a new club during the winter window. Juventus issued a statement wishing Pogba the best for his future career. Pogba also expressed his gratitude for his time at the club, recalling his privileged moments with Juventus and thanking the fans for their support during difficult times. He looks forward to the next chapter of his career with his new club.

Before his ban, Pogba earned £6.9m annually at Juventus on a contract running until June 2026. Juventus reportedly reduced his salary to around £2,000 per month in accordance with a collective agreement between the club and the players’ union. Pogba has seen limited playing time in recent seasons, making just 162 minutes across five appearances during the 2022-23 season. Last season, he featured for only 51 minutes as a substitute before his suspension.

This contract termination and the reduction of his ban give Pogba the chance to restart his career. Paul Pogba began his career at Manchester United before moving to Juventus where he won multiple Serie A titles. After a world-record return to United in 2016, he helped France win the 2018 World Cup, scoring in the final. However, injuries and inconsistency hindered his recent years.
