Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti expressed concern after his side lost 3-1 to AC Milan at the Santiago Bernabeu, marking their second consecutive home loss. Madrid has now dropped two of their first four Champions League matches following their 4-0 El Clasico loss to Barcelona leaving them nine points behind in La Liga. Madrid briefly equalized when Vinicius Junior scored a penalty after Malick Thiaw’s early header gave Milan the lead.

However, Alvaro Morata and Tijjani Reijnders scored to secure a deserved win for Milan, who have also had a mixed start to the season. Milan’s manager Paulo Fonseca praised his team’s courage, especially their first-half performance where they created several chances despite defending more in the second half. Madrid struggled in the first half as they lost possession in midfield which led to Morata’s goal after a Rafael Leao shot was saved.

Despite pushing for an equalizer in the second half, Real Madrid failed to respond when Milan caught them on the break. Reijnders scored a powerful strike in the 73rd minute, sealing the win for Milan. Jude Bellingham, who had been a standout performer for Madrid, visibly frustrated, came off the pitch after Milan’s third goal.

Meanwhile, Kylian Mbappe continued to struggle in front of goal with Ancelotti forcing him into a central role rather than his preferred left-wing position. To make matters worse for Madrid, VAR disallowed Antonio Rudiger’s late strike. This match marked Madrid’s first since the El Clasico defeat as floods in Spain postponed their weekend fixture against Valencia. Both teams wore solidarity T-shirts for Valencia before the match.
