Rocky Bushiri’s first goal for Hibernian earned them a dramatic 3-3 draw against Aberdeen in a thrilling Scottish Premiership match that saw three goals scored in added time. Hibs led 1-0 at half-time thanks to Joe Newell’s deflected shot but Aberdeen quickly responded with Jamie McGrath’s equalizer. A mistake by Hibs goalkeeper Jordan Smith allowed Nicky Devlin to score, giving Aberdeen a 2-1 lead. However, Hibs fought back in dramatic fashion.
Nicky Cadden leveled the score with a stunning free-kick, only for Ester Sokler to put Aberdeen ahead again with a brilliant overhead kick in the 95th minute. Just when it seemed Aberdeen would take all three points, Rocky Bushiri scored in the dying moments to earn a point for Hibs sparking wild celebrations. Despite the late heroics, Hibs remain bottom of the table, winless in nine matches while Aberdeen are second, two points behind Celtic.
Hibs’ manager David Gray praised his side’s resilience especially after they conceded from another individual error. He highlighted their fighting spirit, particularly in the final minutes and expressed hope that they can build on the performance to turn their season around. Meanwhile, Aberdeen were left frustrated after a game they should have won with manager Jimmy Thelin praising his team’s spirit and the impact of substitutes particularly Shayden Morris, who played a key role in their second-half goals.
Despite their struggles, Thelin acknowledged that the team needs to mature and learn from their mistakes. The match showed the contrasting emotions of both teams with Hibs’ late equalizer offering a glimpse of hope while Aberdeen will look to regroup ahead of their next match against Hearts.
