Alvaro Morata has announced that he and his family must relocate due to safety concerns after the mayor of Corbetta revealed the footballer’s purchase of a house in the town. Morata, 31, joined AC Milan from Atletico Madrid in July and reportedly selected Corbetta located 17 miles west of Milan for the privacy it offered. The situation escalated when Corbetta’s mayor, Marco Ballarini announced Morata’s arrival on social media leading to the striker’s furious response.
In an Instagram post, Morata expressed his dismay, stating, “Dear Mr. Mayor, thank you for violating my privacy. Fortunately, I do not own any valuable property. My only treasure is my children, whose safety you have endangered.” He criticized the mayor for his failure to maintain the privacy he had expected, stating, “I find myself having to move house immediately due to your inability to use social media and protect your citizens.”
While admitting his allegiance to Inter Milan, Ballarini welcomed Alvaro Morata to Corbetta which only added to the striker’s frustrations. He later shared an image of the Inter Milan club badge on his Instagram story, further highlighting his connection to the rival team. Despite the turmoil, Morata remains focused on his football career. He recently captained Spain to victory in Euro 2024 and has made six appearances for AC Milan, scoring two goals.
This incident serves as a reminder of the challenges athletes face in maintaining their privacy and safety amid public attention and scrutiny. Morata’s situation underscores the importance of discretion, especially in social media communications.
