Edoardo Bove, Fiorentina’s 22-year-old midfielder is in intensive care after collapsing during a Serie A match against Inter Milan on Sunday. The incident occurred in the 16th minute, prompting an immediate stoppage as players urgently called for medical assistance. Bove was stretchered off and transported by ambulance leading to the match’s abandonment. Fiorentina confirmed in a statement that Bove is under pharmacological sedation and undergoing evaluation in intensive care.

Initial tests ruled out acute damage to his central nervous and cardio-respiratory systems. The club stated he would be re-evaluated within 24 hours. Bove on loan from Roma since August has made a significant impact at Fiorentina, scoring his first goal for the club against his parent team in October. The Italian midfielder has represented his country at youth levels but is yet to earn a senior cap.
