The expanded FIFA Club World Cup will feature 32 teams and take place in the United States from June 15 to July 13, 2025. Other notable teams in the draw include Paris Saint-Germain, Atletico Madrid, Bayern Munich and Real Madrid. The tournament will take place across 12 venues in the U.S. with teams playing once in the group stage. The top two teams from each group will progress to the knockout stage.
The tournament will showcase clubs from all six football confederations with 12 European teams including Chelsea, Manchester City and Real Madrid securing places based on their Champions League performances over the past four seasons. Inter Miami led by Lionel Messi will play Egyptian side Al Ahly in the opening match, despite controversy over their spot as they did not win the MLS championship.
FIFA’s decision to schedule the event between the Champions League final and the start of domestic leagues has raised concerns from player unions and leagues. The 2025 FIFA Club World Cup which was previously held annually will now take place every four years. Streaming platform DAZN will broadcast the 63-match tournament which will run for 29 days.
