The Los Angeles Chargers clinched an NFL playoff spot with a commanding 40-7 win over the New England Patriots. Justin Herbert led the charge, throwing for 281 yards and three touchdowns to help the Chargers secure a wildcard berth in John Harbaugh’s first season as head coach. The Patriots struggled through a tough season and their home fans booed them off the field.

Meanwhile, the Denver Broncos failed to secure the final AFC playoff spot, losing 30-24 to the Cincinnati Bengals in overtime. Joe Burrow delivered an exceptional performance, throwing for 412 yards and three touchdowns including a game-winning pass to Tee Higgins in the final minutes of overtime. The Bengals remain in playoff contention but must beat AFC North rivals, the Pittsburgh Steelers in their final game and rely on favorable results elsewhere.

The Broncos now face the daunting task of defeating the AFC-leading Kansas City Chiefs, who hold a 15-1 record to end their nine-year playoff drought. In the NFC, the Los Angeles Rams moved closer to clinching the NFC West title by defeating the Arizona Cardinals 13-9. Kyren Williams scored the Rams’ lone touchdown and Joshua Karty added two field goals. Ahkello Witherspoon secured the victory with an endzone interception just 37 seconds before the final whistle.

The Rams now lead the division with a 10-6 record, sitting one game ahead of the Seattle Seahawks. A win in their final game or favorable outcomes in other matches will secure the division title. As the playoff race intensifies, teams like the Bengals and Broncos fight for survival while others such as the Rams work to solidify their standings before the postseason.
