The NFL has issued a security warning to players about a criminal network targeting their homes, following recent burglaries of high-profile players. The league has advised players to increase their home security and be cautious about what they share on social media. This warning follows burglaries at the homes of Kansas City Chiefs stars Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce last month as well as an attempted break-in at a property owned by Dallas Cowboys’ Linval Joseph the following week.

The NFL issued a security memo to team security directors and the players’ union, urging players to adopt additional precautions. According to the NFL website, the criminal network utilizes public records to locate players’ addresses and carries out thorough surveillance. By monitoring team schedules and tracking the social media posts of players and their families, the criminals wait for opportunities when the homes are empty, often during games.

To prevent break-ins, the NFL has advised players to make their homes appear occupied when they are away. Simple tactics such as leaving lights on or a television running can help deter burglars. Patrick Mahomes commented on the incident, acknowledging the discomfort of being targeted in such a way. “I can’t get into too many of the details because the investigation is still ongoing,” he said. “But obviously, something that you don’t want to happen to really anybody, but obviously yourself.”

As the investigation continues, the NFL is working to ensure players understand the risks and take steps to protect their homes and families. The league’s efforts reflect growing concerns about player safety, especially when personal information becomes public.
