Tom Brady the seven-time Super Bowl champion expressed that he was “incredibly humbled and excited” following the NFL owners’ unanimous approval of his investment in the Las Vegas Raiders. The retired quarterback, who ended his illustrious 23-year career in the NFL for the second time in February 2023 will acquire a 5% stake in the franchise.
In a statement, Brady emphasized the values he associates with football, stating, “Throughout my NFL career, I’ve learned that at its core, football is a game of teamwork, resilience and a relentless pursuit of excellence.” He praised the Raiders and Las Vegas for embodying these principles and expressed his honor in becoming part of the franchise’s legacy.
Tom Brady is no stranger to ownership, having become a minority owner of Birmingham City FC last year and also being part of the ownership group for the WNBA’s Las Vegas Aces. His bid for the Raiders required 24 votes for approval, but he received unanimous backing from all 32 NFL owners during a meeting in Atlanta. In addition to his investment, Brady is eager to contribute to the organization.
He aims to honor the Raiders’ rich history while enhancing the fan experience and focusing on winning games. Despite his new role, Brady’s broadcasting duties with Fox come with restrictions related to his ownership stake preventing him from attending production meetings or having access to team facilities, coaches or players.
NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell welcomed Brady’s investment, noting, “It’s great that Tom Brady wants to invest in the NFL. He cares deeply about this game, he believes in its future, and I think that’s just a signal about it.”
