Abbi Pulling reclaimed the 2024 F1 Academy title on Friday by securing all three pole positions for the season finale in Abu Dhabi. The 21-year-old Alpine driver celebrated her championship win in Qatar last week but an unexpected schedule change temporarily put her title in doubt. Organizers had canceled the second race in Qatar due to barrier repairs and added a replacement race to the Yas Marina round.
This adjustment left Pulling’s 83-point lead over Mercedes driver Doriane Pin vulnerable as 84 points were still available in the final round. However, Pulling erased any uncertainty by dominating qualifying in Abu Dhabi clinching all three poles and solidifying her status as champion. “It’s nice to hear those words,” Pulling said after being called “a champion” during her post-qualifying interview.
Her title win earns her a fully-funded season in the GB3 Championship, a UK-based single-seater series. Reflecting on her journey, Abbi Pulling acknowledged the challenges she faced. “It’s been a tougher season than most think,” she said. “At the beginning of the year, I had no choice but to win. I’ve struggled financially in the past, but knowing I’ve secured the prize for next year makes me so happy.”
In the F1 Academy, drivers earn 25 points for a win, two for pole and one for the fastest lap making consistent performance essential. Pulling’s victory underscores her resilience and skill throughout the season. With her future in the GB3 Championship secured, Pulling’s triumph in the F1 Academy is both a testament to her talent and a promising step forward in her motorsport career.
