Adrian Newey the renowned Formula 1 design legend might join Aston Martin next year but his manager Eddie Jordan has refused to confirm the reports. Jordan, who negotiated Newey’s early exit from his role as Red Bull’s chief technical officer in April has declined to comment, stating, “I am not prepared to answer.” Aston Martin has scheduled a news conference for 10 September, where they expect to announce Newey’s recruitment officially.

Team owner Lawrence Stroll has expressed enthusiasm about the potential move, stating that he and Newey have discussed it for years and that Newey would be a significant asset to any F1 team. Widely regarded as one of the greatest F1 designers in history, Newey has contributed to 12 drivers’ championships and 13 constructors’ titles during his time with Williams, McLaren and Red Bull since 1991.

His potential move to Aston Martin aligns with the team’s goal to become world championship contenders and supports their recent recruitment drive. Aston Martin, which moved into a new factory last year and is about to activate a new wind tunnel at Silverstone has already recruited key figures such as former Mercedes engine chief Andy Cowell as CEO and former Ferrari chassis technical director Enrico Cardile as chief technical officer.

Adrian Newey decided to leave Red Bull due to internal tensions and allegations of misconduct against team principal Christian Horner. Although Newey considered offers from several teams including Ferrari and McLaren, Aston Martin appears to be his primary option. If the move happens, Newey will finally get the chance to work with two-time champion Fernando Alonso, fulfilling a long-held desire.
