Alpine boss Bruno Famin is actively considering various options for the F1 2025 driver lineup with Mick Schumacher emerging as one of the potential candidates. Schumacher, who accrued two seasons of Formula 1 experience with Haas in 2021 and 2022, has impressed Alpine with his performance in the World Endurance Championship (WEC). While maintaining his role as a reserve driver for the Mercedes Formula 1 team, Schumacher has expanded his racing schedule for 2024 by joining Alpine for their WEC Hypercar program. Famin has actively praised Schumacher’s outstanding contribution to the WEC team, particularly emphasizing his mindset, adaptability to endurance racing, and strong team spirit.
Alpine’s disappointing start to the F1 2024 season with only one point scored by Esteban Ocon, has prompted speculation about potential driver changes within the team. Both Ocon and teammate Pierre Gasly find themselves out of contract, and if Alpine fails to improve their performance, there is a possibility that either driver may depart. In such an event, Schumacher could potentially rejoin Formula 1. Famin has confirmed that Schumacher, along with several other options, is under consideration for the F1 2025 lineup.
Apart from Schumacher, Alpine Academy star and F1 reserve driver Jack Doohan is also a strong contender for a race seat in 2025. Famin has mentioned that Alpine is open to all solutions for their F1 2025 driver lineup and believes it’s important to have at least one experienced driver.
Alpine boss Bruno Famin is considering Mick Schumacher as a possibility for the F1 2025 driver lineup, along with other contenders such as Jack Doohan. Schumacher’s impressive performance in the World Endurance Championship and his adaptability to endurance racing have caught Famin’s attention.
While the final decision is yet to be made, Schumacher’s chances of returning to Formula 1 with Alpine seem promising if a vacancy arises.
