Daniel Ricciardo: ‘I Believe I Will Be on the Grid’

Daniel Ricciardo expects to learn about his Formula 1 future following the Singapore Grand Prix. The Australian driver competes with reserve driver Liam Lawson for a seat at Red Bull’s RB team alongside Yuki Tsunoda in 2025. Speculation suggests that Red Bull might replace Ricciardo with Lawson before the next race. Ricciardo stated, “I do expect a yes or a no for ’25. I’m aware of some talk and speculation about the rest of the season, but I’m not informed on that at the moment.”

He anticipates that the decision will focus on next year but he remains cautious, acknowledging the unpredictability of the sport. “I believe I will be [on the grid], but let’s see,” he added. Former Red Bull teammate Max Verstappen expressed his support for Ricciardo, stating that the 35-year-old could reflect on his career with pride even if he faces a potential drop from the team.

Verstappen remarked, “Daniel is a great guy and a proven Formula 1 driver. Always being in this kind of position is never nice, but he doesn’t have to feel sorry for himself.” He emphasized that while career paths can be unpredictable, Ricciardo has achieved far more than many could dream of. “Sometimes things don’t work out as planned at certain stages, but he can still look back at an amazing career that few can replicate,” Verstappen noted.

He encouraged Daniel Ricciardo to embrace whatever comes next, reinforcing the notion that even if this race were to be his last, he has a legacy worth celebrating.
